RONDA BETH ALBRIGHT
MARTINSBURG, WV
ARTIST
BIOGRAPHY AND STATEMENT
“I have always been inspired by nature in all its glory and to the beauty of God’s creations. I loved being outdoors and exploring things as a child. Once, my aunt took me with her to look at wild flowers and afterward we went back and painted some of them in watercolor. This was my first painting experience. From then on I became more aware of my surroundings. I love the way sunlight shines on something that has an interesting shape and it creates shadow patterns and designs. This makes me stop and take notice. I usually carry my camera and nowadays my cell phone to document such scenes and later use them for reference in my watercolor paintings. I used to do most of my paintings outdoors (plein-aire) but now I prefer doing the photographing and maybe a sketch or two on location and then go indoors to my studio to avoid the lighting changes, heat, rain, and insects Although I still enjoy getting outdoors with other artists for an occasional plein- aire session in nice weather.”
