We had a wonderful group of about 11 of our artists and friends get together for our Christmas lunch on December 12. Great food was served in the upstairs dining area, and we talked about everything under the sun like family, trips, school, why our kids borrow our tools, marine biology... yes marine biology! But I forgot to take photos for this blog spot.. I am sorry. Join us next year for some good association.
Several of our members, Joana Athey, Jewell Hellems, Don Athey, Tom Nebel, Donna Ashbaugh, Sharon Nicks, Monica Wilkins, Carol Wilks and Ziggy Wolodkewitsch displayed their wonderful art selections at the Heiler Art Gallery for the showing of "The Music Man".
And I want to make mention that our show was well received and that we sold a couple of paintings to boot!
"On April 15, 2015, members of the Potomac River Artists Guild met for a luncheon at the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown, WV to say "thank you" to our immediate past president, Mary Alice Bowers. Mary Alice is a founding member of the Group now 15 years old. She has held the office of president several times during that tenure. She was noted for her dedication to the Group, her tenacity in persuading members to "volunteer" for various committees and chairmanships and her "get the job done" attitude for the benefit of the Group as well as promoting the Group's fine art to the public."
Tom Nebel accepted into juried Art Exhibition
Our member, Tom Nebel, has been fortunate to be juried into the Cumberland Valley Artists Exhibition offered by the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. Tom's acrylic impasto, "Spring Field" is one of 68 out of a total of 217 entries to be selected. This show draws entries from across the country. The show runs from October 4 2014 - January 11, 2015 at "The Mansion" in Hagerstown, Md.
Two of our members, Kat Cimaglio and Andrea Burke were honored to be Judges for the Painting/Mixed Media category. The Awards Ceremony was held 5/6/2013 at the Holiday Inn. An estimated 1,000 students, parents, teachers, and sponsors attended! The artwork (in all forms) was amazing. And the "Best of Show" was a video by Matthew Keanu (Jefferson HS) with an antimated stick man - it was great!!! Students came from high schools in all 3 counties of the Eastern Panhandle of WV. Kudos to Vicki Jenkins, Director of James Rumsey Technical Institute and Peggy Talley, Chair of the VIZZI Committee, along with the many people who helped make this possible. Click here for more information about the VIZZI Awards.
PRAG members Tom Nebel, Donna Ashbaugh and Andrea Burke are very excited to be a part of this show! It remains open thru May 12th - just off Rte 50 near Berryville.
