Watercolor and Batik Watercolor Artist
Jeanne is known for her bright and striking florals, as well as her rural landscapes and floral scenes. She has worked at developing the watercolor batik method which involves the use of hot liquid wax as a resist material and watercolor paint on ginwashi Japanese paper, giving her subjects abstract textured qualities. In addition, she also teaches and displays her interest in alcohol ink. The brilliant ink gives her abstract designs a stunning appearance.
Before moving to Hagerstown, MD in May 2019, Jeanne painted from her home studio at Indian Lake in Somerset County, PA. She was president of the Somerset County Artists Association and member of Laurel Arts in Somerset, PA., Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, Community Art Center of Cambria County, Allied Artists of Johnstown, and Garrett County Arts Council in Maryland. Her work is regularly exhibited at the Dressler Art Center in Somerset, the Garrett Art Center in Oakland, MD. numerous juried shows in Western PA and the Main Exhibit Gallery and Arts Center in Ligonier, PA. Occasionally, she has displayed and taught her art in Lake Placid, PA.
She teaches unique and unusual batik classes monthly at the Mail Exhibit, 301 West Main St., Ligonier, PA. Many of her paintings and a schedule of classes may be viewed at www.mainexhibitgallery.com.
