Art, color and form, have always fascinated me.   My mother was an artist, and I grew up appreciating art. I admire beautiful and colorful things.   As a child, I enjoyed making things, and in college experimented with stained glass, batik, and pottery.   I loved color and the creative process.  Growing up some of the popular artists were Leroy Niemann and Peter Maxx, and I loved what they did with color. I admired Niemann for the feeling of motion that he created with his sports paintings and Peter Maxx for his whimsy.
I started painting in 2006 with a watercolor class.  After a busy adult life, I found putting brush to paper, to be relaxing and therapeutic.  I like capturing color and taking an idea and making it come to life. My most successful paintings are the ones that carry my emotions.   I am a graphic artist, and I like paintings that make people smile or think of something in a different way. Most of my work is watercolor, but recently I have been moving into acrylic because of the colors and texture.  My work is eclectic, from landscapes to abstracts.  I like to invite  people into my paintings, hopefully to find it peaceful, humorous or a new way to “see” things on the canvas.

Artist Bio

Jane grew up in Hyattsville, Maryland a suburb of Washington DC.  Her Mother was a talented artist, and encouraged art, drawing and crafts throughout Janes’ early years.    She attended the University of Maryland and graduated with a BS degree in Public Administration.    During these early years, Jane experimented in Stained glass, Pottery and Batik.   In her college years she was a fan of the work of  both LeRoy Neiman and Peter Max.
In 1993 Jane and her family moved to Martinsburg after being a stay-at-home Mom, and writer.  She re-entered the workforce, eventually securing a position with the Eastern Campus of the WVU School of Medicine at Berkeley Medical Center. She retired from her position in 2021.
Jane served as the Vice president on the Board of Directors of the Berkeley County Arts Council for 5 years, and developed the class program, organized art workshops, and organized the first “Dance Works” community Dance Festival.
In 2006 she inherited her mother’s brushes and paints and took a watercolor painting class.   She has taken several classes and workshops through the years and experimented with lots of different techniques in watercolor and Acrylic.   Jane became a member of the Potomac River Artists Guild and later served as President for two years.   While having limited time to paint while working full-time, she has participated in several shows, and has sold work.    Jane has always appreciated Art, and her style is eclectic and colorful with a dash of whimsey,
